• Which team came up big?

After a day of player movements all over the NHL, a few teams ended up adding key pieces to which they hope to be, the playoff puzzle.  The biggest move of the day was the exchange of Martin St. Louis to the New York Rangers for Ryan Callahan and a couple draft picks. Although most people feel that this was a win for the Rangers, short term, it could be a big win for the Lightning down the road, if they are able to sign Callahan at the end of the season. Another big pick up was Thomas Vanek who was snatched up by the Montreal Canadians, which will be a huge signing for them as long as Vanek continues his hot scoring streak and is able to help Montreal down the stretch. Other big news was Roberto Luongo being picked up by Florida and then the Panthers sending Tim Thomas to Dallas. It seems as though goaltending was the move of choice on trade day.  Goalies were shuffled throughout the league and many goaltenders have now found new homes. A few other teams were able to pick up players that could certainly fill in some of the roster holes in the teams  lineups.
